This problem has spiraled out of control. It's a total fiasco. We've tried just about everything to fix here it, but nothing seems to function. At this point, it feels like we're doomed. Honestly, I don't know what else to do. This is a mess of epic proportions.

Sometimes you stumble upon situations so horrifically bad that you can't help but smile. It's like your brain tries to make sense of the sheer magnitude of destruction and just resigns itself to fate, opting for amusement as a coping mechanism.
But then, you realize that it's not really hilarious. It's just plain bad. And the laughter you were experiencing morphs into a sigh.
After all is said and done, you are left with a sense of bewilderment. You start ruminating about the purpose of it all. Was this intended to be funny?
Or were we just living in a simulation gone wrong?

Dreadful Day Ever
It all started with a case of morning hair. I couldn't do it to look right. As I was getting ready out the door, I fell and with a thud all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was totally behind schedule for a very important appointment.
I flustered. My {boss|teacher|was absolutely furious. I tried to explain, but it was no use.
The rest of the day was an absolute nightmare. was a catastrophe. I get anything done.
By the time I got home, I was utterly defeated. This day, this atrocious day will be forever remembered as a day to forget.

It all started out horribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then everything went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to run away and hide.
